Harook Special Weapons

Here are my latest sculpts for the Harook, I really love the concept that Mad Robot miniatures created for these.

Mad Robot miniatures just released our beloved bird like space race for the 15mm market, The Harook and I for one will want a bunch of them for my portfolio and more importantly for my games! Muhahah.

So my final words on this 10 minis project, what can I say? These were truly a joy to create, Mad Robot Miniatures created the concept and produced the miniatures, I sculpted them, Spacejacker painted them and the Dropship Horizon crew and 15mm fans supported everything from the beginning. In this process I managed to make friends with similar goals that are just as simple as; Enjoying 15mm Scifi!

Is this the end for the Harook? For me its only the beginning and on my sculpting table I'm making room for some more ;)

The HAROOK sculpts

A new race of creatures just arrived to the battlefields, they are bigger than any man and carry strange and deadly weapons, their motivation is unknown but they are ready for war.

Mad Robot Miniatures created the Harook concept and it was my mission to sculpt them. It's one of the coolest new Scifi creatures I have seen and the concept art was very detailed with lots of nice ideas, as such I had to sculpt the best I can in order to make them justice.

The Harook sculpts was a big, small challenge. Big because it was not one or two or five but 10 Minis... and small because these miniatures are for 15mm Scifi war games.

I hope you like them it was a patience test to sculpt so many tiny and detailed minis but a pleasure to see them finished up.

Scale bigger than a 15mm man.

So thats it, lots of pictures and lots of new greens.

Hummm these are for 15mm but I was wondering something... The Harook could also double as a 28mm race, like some small chickens of doom or hell pigeons, ehehe these would look interesting for sure.

First Harook sculpt is finished!

Well I just finished sculpting the first Harook mini for Mad Robot Miniatures.
The idea was to sculpt this bird like Scifi creature for 15mm warfare and that it should be some mm taller than a regular 15mm man.

Sculpting in 15mm has different limitations than sculpting in 28mm, for one proportions get to be a bit more cartoony and you should avoid isolated and very thin parts because of casting. So the thin and sharp things like feathers or spikes are not as prominent and they would be in 28mm... Nevertheless I'm quite OK with the  amount of small details I managed to add to this tiny mini without making it over the top.

I think this is faithful to the creature concept art and also enjoyable enough for the painter to have little fun with 15mm's, as such I'm happy with the compromises that had to be made to the design in order to convert it to 15mm.
With the concept cleared and sculpted now I can concentrate on sculpting 9 more poses... wish me luck.
