Painting Chewk, the color guide

After much thinking I finally painted the Chewk like some kind of prawn man and here are the results. I opted for saturated colors since I believe they work best for such smallish scales, making good contrasts.

Never painted a 10mm before and its hilarious to be honest, specially if you paint it like a normal 28mm.

So thats about it, these are the colors for the little 10mm prawns the Chewk and I have something like 25 of them to paint.  :)

Chewkannon conversion

A big part of the fun for me about building armies is converting things and recreating some already cool minis in order to make them totally unique.

Funny how your miniatures are like your most precious objects, they have something about them that you get attached and when you walk a extra step to convert them to your desires its like you gave birth to your first child heheh... Its silly how a adult gets so sentimental with these little bits of pewter.

So on my desk was my latest love the Chewks from Khurasan Miniatures and they are so cute that they look like they are from a Star Wars movie, but when I unpacked the Chewkannon blister all that fuzzy feeling was a bit gone, I mean its a superb miniature but it was a bit boring and to realistic, specially if you took out the Beast of burden.

With that in mind I set up to create a new Chewkannon that was funny, evocative to Star Wars not very realistic or functional and that was a easy and fast conversion with minimal sculpting. The beast of burden should be the star of this project.
With only the bits from the original blister cut and placed in a different way I changed this miniature to something a bit silly but damn funny, the green stuff work was so simplistic that anyone that can fill a gap can do this in a couple minutes.
I liked the final result and will buy 2 or 3 more Chewkannons and convert them to match this one.

Brilliant work by Khurasan on creating the Chewks and I hope my little convo didn't destroy them much.

Chewk from Khurasan Miniatures

I just love most of the Khurasan range of minis but when I saw the Chewk I just knew that they would be a part of my 15mm adventures.
The concept is just crazy funny and they have a fresh feeling about them mixed with all the Star Wars old school coolness... To make things even better they are very tiny! So tiny that you will have to get loads of them to counter the other 15mm factions.

This is what I got, but I will get more for sure since they are irresistible.

a) A blister with 26 little chewks tribesmen with 12 diferent posed rifleman and 2 diferent chewk leaders (thats lots of diferent poses in one blister)

b) A blister with a chewkannon with loader, leader, beast of burden and lots of choices ( I will make a very freaky conversion with this packed blister

The details on these little guys are incredible since they are around the 10mm size!

I'm still not sure how I will paint them and I will also have to create some differences between the 2 squads of riflemen but thats something for another post in the future.

I will get busy with them now and paint some for my 15mm incursions, I'm extremely happy with these miniatures. Great job from Khurasan.
