Rhino Beetle Official colours

Some months ago the Rhino beetle was released by Mortal Arrow Miniatures and I never posted here the official paint job done by Daniel Rodriguez from Field Factory.

Again another wonderful brush work with some really darkish colours. Quite a scary beetle, loved it.

Spaceship deck bases

First batch of bases ready to take some minis.
I got carried away with the volumes but I have not painted in a long time so I took the time to enjoy and get back into it.

Picked some warm colours so that they have a good contrast with the grey blue miniatures I have in mind. Feels good to paint some things again!

The Tau Invasion

Great month for Tau fans with lots of new goodies! From huge kits loaded with options to wonderful terrain, there is something for everyone really. I have always been an enthusiast of the faction specially the Kroot since they do remind me of the Predator, like Nids do with Aliens. Not sure when Kroot will be updated but in the meanwhile Im having a great time with a small force of Tau.

I must say that I prefer infantry models rather than vehicles or big suits so I started just painting some colours into my man sized Tau, so far just reds. I want the colours to pop so its going to be nothing realistic or discreet, just plain in your face bubblegum red. Heres a wip.

Cheers

Master Yoda completed it is.

This project goes back a few years ago when I did a little base for my 15mm  master Yoda. Today after many days sitting on a dark box its finally painted and finished.

It was very enjoyable to paint this miniature and since its a small scale its quite challenging to capture all the details.

League of Legends PORO

Hello folks.

Past weekend I had an extra holiday on monday so this was the perfect opportunity to flesh out another sculpt. I work for a big company with lots of people and one of the things I enjoy doing is that every birthday of any of my colleagues I draw them a doodle on their cards, its fun and a good way to make work a bit less stressful. This time around it was the Birthday of a good friend who is totally crazy about a videogame called League of Legends. He does talk allot about this game and one of his favorite creatures there is a chibi cute thing called PORO. Its like a strange anime snow yak cub that has a huge tongue. He also grows considerably each cookie he has in game. Cool stuff!

So yeah! I had 3 days to come up with more than a doodle for his Bday so I decided to sculpt and paint this Poro. It was going to be very hard to pull of this in such short time frame since sculpting does take time and curing alone is around 4 hours between stages.

Saturday and Sunday I managed to sculpt the little fella in greenstuff and even had the time to do a base in Milliput.

PORO

On monday I painted it, so I managed to get this project concluded on time.

Job done and its also a subject I do not usually sculpt so quite happy to do something a bit different.
My friend was happy so all was just perfect.

2013 Kick off

2012 is gone and it was a crazy year in all aspects of my life, 90% of my hobby and life goals were achieved. This year I hope to have a much less chaotic life and relax a bit for a change.

To start I open a new section on this blog with my latest paintings, I usually sculpt much more than I paint but both are equally satisfying.

Just look up on the top menu and now you can find Gallery of colours section.

As for sculpting I'm currently sculpting 4 monsters, more news in due time.

Take care.

PS- Almost forgot to mention but my goal to sculpt 100 pieces in 2012 was conquered with 130ish sculpts total. Wow! Busy year.

The "Houston, we have a problem" diorama is finished

Aliens movies are a major reference for me and my hobby, I always find something to inspire my Sci Fi settings and miniatures in those movies and THE master H. R. Giger works always guide my imaginary into a world of delight.

Going back to when Kane got a facehugger kiss on the first Aliens movie it was one of the most memorable moments for me, so I tried to make this diorama a couple minutes prior to the facehugger attack when they discover the Aliens eggs.

The miniature is from Ground Zero Games and its 15mm, so its my first try on making dioramas in these small scales... I also took the chance to try to paint something a bit different with some drastic lightning effects hoping to catch the darkish feeling of the movie and that tense scene.

Diorama scale picture next to a 28mm

I really enjoyed working on one of my favorite themes and in 15mm, the biggest drawback for me when doing dioramas in 28mm's is that they really take a lot of space in storing and after you do 2 or 3 you start to be a bit stressed about the room in your display... in 15mm there's no such problems as such I now want to create LOTS of little 15mm dioramas :)
For now I hope Frothers community enjoys this one.

Painting Chewk, the color guide

After much thinking I finally painted the Chewk like some kind of prawn man and here are the results. I opted for saturated colors since I believe they work best for such smallish scales, making good contrasts.

Never painted a 10mm before and its hilarious to be honest, specially if you paint it like a normal 28mm.

Scale picture ( GZG 15mm, Khurasan Chewk 10mm and GW heroic 28mm)
