Eldar Phantom Titan (armourcast)

The year was 2007 and I had accepted what was to be my biggest sculpting challenge to date.

The project was to work on the original Eldar Phantom Titan from armourcast and make it more modern and detailed. A few weeks later I doodled some concept art for it and the client approved a very ambitious design. Not only I needed to redecorate all of it but a huge display base was needed too and to make things even more complex we decided to repose the legs.

2 years later, yes you read it right this took me 2 years of strong sculpting, the project was finally finished. This was a very special project for me and the ultimate test to my endurance, I will not repeat such a thing though for sanity sake.

Raw data for the Titan. Its 61 cm/24 inches/2 ft tall and weights 10 Kg/22 lb

ELDAR PHANTOM TITAN

A lot of me went into this work and in the end I was a different sculptor. Hope you enjoyed this back to past post. Have a good holiday.

  1. Navarro,

I wanted to write you and let you know just what an impact this model in particular has had on me. I remember when I first saw this project (on Warseer, or some other forum) and my jaw hit the floor. It is without a doubt one of the finest models I have ever seen assembled. I always loved your work - the tyranid biodiversity project in particular, but this model is simply divine. The eldar nature, combine with the overwhelming "forest spirit" vibe works so wonderfully. I wish someday to have an ounce of the talent that you have shared with everyone.
Thanks for posting this - I loved it the first time I saw it in 2007/08/09 and still love it now.
Hope someday to be able to commission you for some work.
    Best regards

  2. Thank you Alex. I'm glad that you enjoyed this project and by the looks of it also my nids etc. Its quite rewarding to know that the Titan managed to inspire you and that after such a long time it still looks ok and not that aged. Sometimes old projects don't age well but this one has still some life into it. I was happy with the design choices and the armourcast model was a very nice blank canvas for me to explore. Hopefully one day I will be lucky enough to find pictures of it painted since I lost track of the client & model... its going to be a hard one to find.
Again thanks and I hope that the projects I will blog in the future will still inspire you. All the best

  3. Hi Navarro,

Roman from Massive Voodoo is doing the paint job of the Titan. He has already posted a picture at his face book account.

    1. Cheers thanks for the warning. I noticed he started working on it.
Very happy to see this huge project come to a conclusion and that its being handled by one of my favourite painters! Great times.
