Tutorial what to do with the dried greenstuff leftovers

When your sculpting a project most of the times there will be some Greenstuff leftovers. If its still fresh and you can sculpt something with it you can do plenty of things, little spikes, skulls, mushrooms, purity seals or scrolls etc.

But what to do when its not moldable anymore? Do you trash away the dried bits of Greenstuff?

I tend to use those for something else and again there are lots of things you can do with them, heres one.

Sharp rocks

Not much of a tutorial and more just an idea for you guys.

Greenstuff when dried is very easy to cut so bring in your sharp blades.

1- Super glue or PVA glue

2- Blade

3- Dried bits of Greenstuff

Cut random sizes and shapes, make sure they look very sharp.

Glue the bigger stones first and then fill the gaps with the smaller ones.

Job done.

So why not just use cork? Apart from being expensive and your using free bits of Greenstuff that you normally throw away, the look is very different since cork looks like a less sharp type of rock. You will also struggle to get the fine sharp tips on cork.

Also take this opportunity to experiment, instead of rocks you can cut spear heads, spiked armour and all sorts of sharp things for your models. Again have fun.

This project goes back a few years ago when I did a little base for my 15mm  master Yoda. Today after many days sitting on a dark box its finally painted and finished.

It was very enjoyable to paint this miniature and since its a small scale its quite challenging to capture all the details.

Salute coverage (part 5)

This is the final post about Salute 2013 coverage and I would like to say that it was a memorable event.

This year I would like to point out that it was very clear that this hobby is growing,  there was plenty of new minis, games, demos, painting comps and nice happy people everywhere... and some apes too.

There was lots of good things going on there but unfortunately I only managed to capture a few of them, I did miss some big names and companies like hasslefree and mantic etc... In my defense my plans for a more complete report did fall apart when I was invited to play the last game of the day on Frothers table the planet of apes... and glad I did because not only I was having a blast with my ugly frother friends but the damn game was funny has hell and gave me lots of ideas...

My favorite companies where all there except for  khurasan miniatures and between taking photos and drooling all over the place I did buy some goodies to keep me warm for a full year.

Antenocitti gave me a kick in the nuts with some awesome apc's and vehicles inspired on Aliens, I just had to have them all and so I did! Then I needed a full army of colonial marines to put inside the vehicles right?.... so I went down to Ground zero games and found that their new tomorrow's war RANG are not only some of the best GZG minis atm but they are close to how Colonial marines look like... Got a full army there!

The wild card was the power armor suits from Brigade, got them to make my army more versatile.

Only need to bug hunt some space demons from Khurasan now and also get the new rules from Ganesha games, SWATTERS for some intense Aliens wars!

Salute coverage (part4)

Browsing salute tables is such a feast to the eyes, so many games, scales and styles that you could spend all day just looking at the details in them.

After some shopping and miniatures reports later... I went to check the tables there and only took pictures of something like 5% of the things there, it was all just crazy massive!

Tabletop Pictures

Funny thing Privateer Press had a table for a speed painting contest and if you think it would have lots of young gamers all over it guess again... the old farts like me took the table by storm. Brilliant.

The Planet of Apes table by Frothers was the most dangerous table on Salute... It hold me hostage for the last hours of the day in a frenetic game between Frothers... bunch of apes!

And to close another report I leave you with what in my opinion was the best table of salute...

This thing was soooooooooooooo huge and detailed that it was clear eye catcher!

Salute 2013 coverage (part1)

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK WE SALUTE YA!!!!

Past saturday we had Salute 2013, one of the best ( if not the biggest) wargaming events in the UK/EU.

Again this year I had the fortune to participate in this amazing expo. Most companies present their new products and if you look carefully there is always a good bargain to be found.

The day started early and this year I heard some concerns that the queues got to be so big that they were running out of space, promising start then!

I had a few goals this year... Deliver my goblin aid miniature as soon as possible to Fenris stand, take some few pictures of anything that I fancy, talk to some of my clients, shop some minis and catch up with friends from Frothers and Chelmsford bunker.

But hey things can get freaking chaotic, fast! And so they did!

Well after delivering goblin aid miniature I started the photos spree. I took around 400 but after cleaning them I will only upload 130ish separated in several different posts on this blog.

So here you go, starting with a 15mm scifi coverage...

So this is my 15mm  small report but would like to mention that a company totally blowed my mind this year... Antenocitti workshop simply rocked in every way to such a degree that I took zero photos... I was to busy drooling and giving them almost all my money for the event...  I will post pics of my purchases soon... Hint: I finally got my colonial marines from aliens army!
