Wyrd miniatures fortunate findings

I have been collecting all kind of miniatures for a long time, so long that I can honestly say that I don't remember every single miniature that I have purchased in the past.
As such sometimes when I dive into the ocean of blister and sprues that I have stored around here, I find something that I have never seen before... yes, I know it sounds silly but the truth is when you reach a certain critical mass of accumulated stuff your brain melts down.

The good news are that when I find, under a rock, a miniature that my brain cells forgot about is like going shopping all over again, but this time for free and in your personal hobby bunker XD

So there I was digging into a mass of Infinity blisters looking for some scifi bitz and shazam! I find 3 little blisters of Malifaux game from Wyrd miniatures and to my surprise they are perfect for 15mm!!! Thats a very odd coincidence and since I don't believe in coincidences I guess its the cryptic ways of the miniature gods pointing me the 15mm path.

So I have 3 blisters and each one is packed with 3 little miniatures, I think Im going to use them like a new race of machines things on my scifi's and 9 minis should be a good starting point...

The blister is called Arachnid Swarms Steampunk Constructs and I leave you some comparison scale shots:

I only assembled one so far but by bending the legs you have hundreds of different poses to explore and at less than 1mm tall it fits just perfectly into 15mm scifi wars... Cute little machine in 28mm just got turned into a big bad ass in 15mm... Now I need to find a cool background and a name for these machines.

  1. Nice. In this scale, a little reminiscent of the "Hunters" from Half-Life 2 Episode 2... Now if only, for example, Khurasan had some HL2-style minis to face them off against...

  2. Your right, I remember some of the Half Life monsters and the "hunters" concept its indeed quite close to these Wyrd constructs.
Now that you mentioned it Half Life has one of my favorite monsters of all time, I don't remember the name but it was the dog with no head and lots of bug eyes on its neck... absolute classic gribbly thing, loved it!

  5. Yes thats the one, Houndeye just screams for a 15mm sculpt one day down the road.
I also liked Half Life and played the first one but never got the sequels and only played them on rare occasions. Great atmosphere on those games.
